CASINO REOPENS • LIVE RACING CANCELED
After almost a year of being closed due to COVID-19, Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino has received the green light from the Governor of New Mexico to reopen on March 5, 2021. Per the February 24, 2021, Health Order Issued by the State of New Mexico, Sunland Park has been approved to reopen to the public at 25% capacity. There will be no indoor dining or entertainment offered, but the slots will be open and wagering on horse racing can be done via simulcast.
The 2020-2021 live racing season at Sunland Park was officially canceled in its entirety on February 18th. The New Mexico Racing Commission passed a motion to call off the remainder of the previously delayed race meet, which never began due to COVID-19 restrictions.
