Sunland Park simulcasts the Breeders’ Cup races on Friday and Saturday
Breeders’ Cup Turf Club packages on sale for $30
Sunland Park live racing season returns on Dec. 15


Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino and Hotel will simulcast both days of the 2017 Breeders’ Cup World Championship from Del Mar on Friday and Saturday.

The 34th Breeders’ Cup begins on Friday, November 3 with a total of 10 races, four of which are Breeders’ Cup races. The first race from Del Mar on Friday starts at 12:25 p.m. The first Breeders’ Cup race is the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf slated as the 6th race. The $2 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Distaff will be the 9th race on the card and starts at 5:35 p.m. The Distaff features the best females in training including 10-time winner Stellar Wind, Kentucky Oaks winner Abel Tasman and Beldame Invitational winner Elate. Sunland Park’s Island Fashion Stakes winner Mopotism is also in the world class field racing one mile and one-eighth.

There are 12 races on Saturday, November 4 showcasing nine Breeders’ Cup World Championship races. First post time is 11:10 a.m. The first Breeders’ Cup race is the 4th race starting at 1 p.m. Post time for the $6 million Breeders’ Cup Classic is 6:35 p.m. Arrogate, holding career earnings of over $17 million, will defend his 2016 Breeders’ Cup Classic crown with jockey Mike Smith in the irons. North America’s richest race horse defeated California Chrome to win last year’s Classic. Last January, Arrogate won the $12 million Pegasus World Cup at Gulfstream Park. Coming off two straight defeats, he has been installed as the 2-1 second favorite. Woodward Stakes winner Gun Runner trained by Steve Asmussen is the 9-5 morning line favorite for the one and one-quarter mile feature. 2016 Sunland Park Festival of Racing winner Collected looms large as a 6-1 shot sporting a four race win streak including a victory over Arrogate in the Pacific Classic at Del Mar. Bob Baffert trains Arrogate, Collected, West Coast and Mubtaahij in the Classic..

Full fields and betting opportunities are abundant for both days.

Sunland Park Turf Club packages for Saturday’s races are on sale for only $30. The packages include a delicious Turf Club buffet, turf club seating, commemorative Breeders’ Cup Glass, official racing program and Breeders’ Cup tip sheet. The buffet only sells for $15.50. Turf Club seating only is $10, and the Breeders’ Cup Glass only is on sale for $10.

The upcoming 2017-18 Sunland Park live racing season is just around the corner. Opening day is Friday, Dec. 15. The 72-day meet extends through Tuesday, April 17, 2018. The 15th running of the $800,000 Sunland Derby (Gr. 3) is the highpoint of the meet on Sunday, March 25, 2018.
