Mariachi Son de Mexico is a youth group of musicians in El Paso, Texas that was formed in May of 2003. On average, the group is comprised of members ranging from ages 19 to 27 years old. With no true musical director, the group members place education, responsibility, practice, dedication, and most importantly respect for one another in high priority. They rely on each other’s opinions and feedback in order to better the group. “Son” is a Spanish word used to describe a musical genre. It conveys the rich flavor of Mexico’s culture and is unique only to Mariachi music. Mariachi Son De Mexico strives to live up to its name with a large number of musicians as well as a wide variety of music and instruments.
