When Jack Ingram won the 2008 Academy of Country Music award for “Best New Male Vocalist,” thousands of people in the audience had to be smiling to themselves about that whole “new” thing. They knew the thirty-something, steel-eyed veteran accepting that trophy on that stage in Vegas had been rocking roadhouses, theaters and stadiums relentlessly since 1997, that he’d been celebrated by critics and fans of hard-core country music for more than a decade, and that as a Texas-born songwriter and performer, he’d been on the short list of next generation artists who could fill the boots of Lone Star legends like Willie and Waylon and the boys.
Jack Ingram has released nine studio albums, one extended play, six live albums, and 19 singles. Active since 1992, Ingram reached the U.S. Country Top 40 with the release of his single “Wherever You Are” in late-2005. That single eventually hit number one on the Billboard country charts. Ingram has sent six other songs into the country Top 40 with “Love You”, “Lips of an Angel” (a cover version of a song by Hinder), “Measure of a Man”, “Maybe She’ll Get Lonely”, “That’s a Man”, and “Barefoot and Crazy”.
In 2017-2018 Ingram was nominated for a Single and Song of the Year CMA Award and a Best Country Song Grammy Award for co-writing “Tin Man” with Miranda Lambert and Jon Randall. The song which was released on Miranda’s album, The Weight of These Wings, also went on to win the prestigious Academy of Country Music’s Song of the Year!
